Gauvin Selected MASCAC Rookie Of The Week Honors

Granby, Mass. native collects second weekly honor of the year 

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman Julia Gauvin (Granby, Mass.) was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year Falcon batted .500 (6-of-12) with two doubles, one home run, eight runs scored, four walks, two RBI and two stolen bases in a 4-0 week for the Green and Gold. Julia went a combined 5-for-7 with two doubles, a home run, six runs scored, one RBI, three walks and a stolen base in a double header sweep over Dean College on Tuesday before going 1-for-2 with two runs scored, one RBI, one walk and a stolen base in a 10-0, game one triumph over Mass. Maritime on Thursday.

The Fitchburg State softball team (14-11, 4-2 MASCAC) returns to action on Monday as they travel to Framingham State to take on the Rams in a conference twin bill, starting at 12:00 PM.
