Five Falcons Collect MASCAC Softball All-Conference Honors

Cahill, Cisowski, Gauvin, Grass & Johnson earn MASCAC Accolades

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University softball team placed five members on the 2022 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference Teams as announced by the conference office this afternoon.

Leading the way for the Falcons were freshman Julia Gauvin (Granby, Mass.), junior Molly Grass (Rockland, Mass.) and senior Audrey Johnson (Fitchburg, Mass.), who earned MASCAC All-Conference First Team honors

Gauvin batted .351 on the season with 40 hits, nine doubles, two triples, three homeruns, 31 runs scored, 14 RBI, 13 walks and five stolen bases, while Grass witnessed a breakout season, hitting .362, including 46 hits, 13 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 35 runs scored, 39 RBI, 21 walks and five steals.

Rounding the MASCAC All-Conference First Team selections for the Green and Gold was Johnson, who concluded the 2022 campaign with a .364 batting average (44-for-121) as well as eight doubles, two triples, six home runs, 24 runs scored, 30 RBI, 13 walks and three stolen bases, while recently eclipsing the 100 hit milestone on April 21st against Lasell.

Junior Sarah Cahill (Mansfield, Mass.) and sophomore Dana Cisowski (Torrington, Conn.) earned MASCAC All-Conference second team selections. Cahill batted .295 with 13 hits, eight runs scored, eight RBI and walks in addition to posting a team-best 3.73 ERA in the circle with ten win and 86 strikeouts over 101.1 innings of work, while Cisowski finished second in the conference with a .427 batting average on 41 hits, including seven doubles, one home run, 27 runs scored, nine walks and three steals.

Joining Gauvin, Grass and Johnson on the MASCAC All-Conference First team were Madison Dana and Alexandra Ruprecht of Bridgewater State, Brooke Grassia and Ally Moran from Framingham State, Christina Ciampa, Colleen Hughes and Lindsay Cordopatri  of Westfield State as well as Rachel Sinclair and Emily Bartlett from Worcester State.

In addition to Cahill and Cisowski, the MASCAC Softball All-Conference Second Team was comprised of Megan Sharon and Madison Synan from Bridgewater State, Mercedes Jimenez, Shelby Roode and Camille Desrochers of Framingham State, Madison Teta from MCLA, Megan Metzger and Stephanie Scoville  of Westfield State and from Worcester State, Lauren Dube and Abigail Koziol.

The Fitchburg State softball team recently concluded its 2022 campaign with an overall record of 17-21 and a 6-8 mark within the MASCAC
