Falcons Fall at Colby-Sawyer
New London, NH. – The Fitchburg State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-12 decision to the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference action this afternoon at Sally Shaw Veitch Field.

How It Happened
Trailing 1-0, first-year Delaney Ponder (East Bridgewater, Mass.) notched a pair of goals, sandwiched around a tally from senior Julia Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) to push the Falcons to a 3-2 lead. Colby-Sawyer countered with two goals from Hannah Marquis to forge ahead 6-3.
Junior Cali Laakso (Fitchburg, Mass.) notched an 8-meter goal, then Miele and Abaigeal Gilman (Clinton, Mass.) scored back-to-back to cut the deficit to 8-6 heading into intermission.
Ponder completed the hat-trick in the third quarter with a goal at the seven-minute mark, however, Colby-Sawyer answered with four unanswered goals. Miele closed out the frame with her second of the game to make it a 13-8 ballgame.
The Green and Gold mounted a strong fourth quarter with four straight goals capped by junior Eva Kozikowski's (Portsmouth, NH) second of the game to trail 14-12 with three minutes to play, Colby-Sawyer added an insurance goal from Heather Hanson, resulting in the 15-10 final.
