Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's lacrosse team posted a 21-7 victory over the Pride of Regis College on Friday night at Elliot Field.

How It Happened

 Regis notched the first goal of the game less than a minute in off the stick of junior Morgan Pero (Hartford, VT). The Falcons would control play the rest of the frame outscoring the Pride 8-0. Junior Brooke Johnson (Billerica, Mass.) knotted the score at 1-1 for her 14th goal of the season and first-year Abaigeal Gilman (Clinton, Mass.) put the Green and Gold ahead for good at 10:14. Freshman Nicole Orlowski (Ellington, Conn.) notched a natural hat trick while senior Julia Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) also potted three goals in the frame.

The Falcons continued to dominate as junior Cali Laakso (Fitchburg, Mass.) found the back of the net for a hat trick in the second. Classmate Eva Kozikowski (Portsmouth, NH) also had a trio of goals giving the hosts a 15-1 lead at intermission.

The Pride opened the third quarter with a goal from freshman Abbie Doheny (Quincy, Mass.). Freshman Alexis Raymond (Tewksbury, Mass.) added a score for the Falcons while classmate Kendra Peretzman (Randolph, Mass.) tipped the twine for her first collegiate goal.

In the fourth quarter, junior Brooke Williams (South Dennis, Mass.) also added her first collegiate tally resulting in the 21-7 final.

Inside the Numbers

  • Fitchburg State junior Francesca Reyes (Malden, Mass.) posted 8 saves in the first 30 minutes while Alyson Cote (South Hadley, Mass.) stopped 8 shots in the second half.
  • Fitchburg held the advantage in shots (33-25) and ground balls (24-11)
  • Miele finished the night with seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) and 6 ground balls, Kozikowski led both teams with five assists.
  • Sophomore Grace Heffernan (Winchester, Mass.) made 8 saves for Regis in the loss
