Falcons Falls To Bears In MASCAC Action

Kozikowski nets game-leading five goals for Green and Gold

Bridgewater, Mass. - The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team dropped a 24-5 decision to the Bears of Bridgewater State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Swenson Field.

How It Happened

Bridgewater State raced out to an early 5-0 advantage as freshman Nina Liquori (Agawam, Mass.) and classmate Hayley Carron (Hopedale, Mass.) notched a pair of tallies, while senior Katherine Tracy (Marion, Mass.) added one marker.

Fitchburg State cut the lead to 8-3 as junior Eva Kozikowski (Portsmouth, N.H.) netted a hat trick, but the Bears upped their advantage to 12-3 on a goal from senior Lindsay Brown (East Longmeadow, Mass.) The Falcons answered back with five minutes remaining in the second quarter though with Kozikowski netting her fourth tally of the contest.

Following the intermission, Bridgewater State went on a 5-0 run, capped by a score from newcomer Melanie McClay (Plymouth, Mass.) to make the score 19-4 before the Green and Gold responded with another tally by Kozikowski.

The Bears secured the victory though with freshman Sarah Lombard (Ipswich, Mass.) connecting on her third goal of the season, resulting in the 24-5 final.
