Women's Lacrosse Lanced by Worcester State

FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State women's lacrosse fell to Worcester State this afternoon in MASCAC action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/27/24

- Score: Worcester 18, Fitchburg 7

- Records: Worcester (9-8, 4-2 MASCAC), Fitchburg (7-10, 1-5 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Worcester would jump out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter behind Shea Jarvis, Mckayla Fisher, and Abigail Vincent. Each scored two goals in the opening quarter for the Lancers. Fitchburg would get on the board with just 10 seconds left on a free position goal by Nicole Orlowski (Ellington, CT). Worcester would add on five more in the second quarter to Fitchburg's two. Autumn Tibbetts (Lunenburg, MA) would net the two goals for the Falcons as they trail 13-3 going into the break.

- The third quarter would be the best for the Falcons, as they outscored the Lancers 3-1. Tibbetts added on two more, giving her four on the day. Orlowski would score the other while a man down. The fourth and final quarter saw Worcester's offense pick back up with another four goals. Abigail Wing would score three of the four for the Lancers. Madigan Kelley was credited with the other. The lone goal scored by the Falcons came with 33 seconds left by Jessica St. George (Dracut, MA).

- Olivia LaValle (W, 7-6) got the win on a four save day. Caitlin Persson (Worcester, MA) (L, 6-7) got the loss after facing 32 shots and making 14 saves.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Wing had four goals for Worcester.

-  Jarvis finished with three goals.

-  Tibbetts finished with four goals for Fitchburg.
