Falcons Drop 3-1 Decision To Vikings In MASCAC Action

Porter notches first collegiate tally for Green and Gold

Salem, Mass. – The Fitchburg State Women's Soccer team dropped a tough 3-1 decision to the Vikings of Salem State University this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Alumni Field.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State broke a 0-0 stalemate in the 44th minute of action when sophomore Ashley Porter (Upton, Mass.) connected on her first collegiate marker to make the score 1-0. Salem State knotted the score (1-1) with three seconds left in the half as freshman Allie Vallancourt (Boxford, Mass.) deposited a shot into the back of the net for her second tally on the season.

Following the break, the Vikings grabbed the lead at the 51:20 mark with senior Micaela Peysere (Bridgewater, Mass.) received a pass from newcomer Jasmine Moran (Falmouth, Mass.) and connected on her first tally of the year for the 2-1 edge.

The hosts extended its margin minutes later when junior Lyndsey Martin (Medford, Mass.) fired a shot into the upper right side of the net off an assist from Vallancourt for her first goal of the 2021 campaign, resulting in the 3-1 final

This afternoon's contest marked the 28th meeting between the two schools on the pitch with the Falcons 5-22-0 all-time when taking on the Vikings

Salem State has won the last six matchups against Fitchburg State, including a 5-0 decision in the last meeting on November 2, 2019 at Alumni Field
