How It Happened

Roger Williams took a 1-0 advantage in the 11th minute of action as freshman Tayla Salome (Lincoln, R.I.) redirected a shot by senior Sarina Olsen (Bristol, R.I.) in front of the net for her second tally on the season.

The Hawks doubled their lead five minutes later when newcomer Rachel Oster (Scituate, R.I.) deposited a shot inside the left post for her fifth marker on the year. Roger Williams nearly upped its margin midway through the frame with freshman Sabrina Sherman (Brentwood, N.H.) putting a shot on target, but graduate student Shannon McCarthy (Chicopee, Mass.) cleared it off the goal line to keep the score 2-0 going into the break.

Following the intermission, Roger Williams added an insurance marker at the 60:02 mark as Salome was able to convert a break-away attempt, slipping a shot into the right side of the net for her second goal on the day for the 3-0 lead.

Fitchburg State cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 65th minute of action when freshman Kendra Peretzman (Randolph, Mass.) fired a shot into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal off an assist from sophomore Angela Gonzalez (Holland, Mass.).

Trailing 4-1, the Green and Gold trimmed the lead to 4-2 at the 72:39 mark with sophomore Hannah Cravedi (Baldwinville, Mass.) firing a shot into the upper left corner for her first collegiate tally.
