Falcons Open 2021-22 Season At BU

Kennedy paces Falcons with top 15 finish in the 800 meter

Boston, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's indoor track & field team opened its 2021-22 campaign this afternoon at the 2021 Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational, hosted by Boston University in a meet that featured teams across DI, DII and DIII.

How It Happened

Junior Nicolette Kennedy (Groveland, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons with a 15th place time of 3:07.03 in the 800 to qualify for MASCAC's, while classmate Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) added a post-season qualifying time of 3:17.11 with a 17th place effort in the 1000 meter.

Sophomore Makany Camara (Lowell, Mass.) (20th) and senior Devin Tormey (Fitchburg, Mass.) (21st) turned in post-season qualifying times of 10.55 seconds and 10.69 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, while senior Meryem Majaoudou (Ayer, Mass.) added a 29th place time of 6:23.95 in the mile to qualify for MASCAC's.

In the 60 meter dash, graduate student Natasha McInnis (Leominster, Mass.) (8.58) and sophomore Kayli Fernandez (Worcester, Mass.) (8.60) placed 31st and 33rd respectively to qualify for the MASCAC championships, while junior Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) posted post-season qualifying time of 3:32.28 with a 22nd place finish in the 1000 meter.

Seniors Chloe Guzman (Pawtucket, R.I.) (37th) and Selina Gibbons (Littleton, Mass.) (34th) notched post-season qualifying times of 29.52 seconds and 29.06 seconds in the 200 meter, while junior Elicia Marshall (Taunton, Mass.) (60m) (9.40) and classmate Lena Spadafore (Lunenburg, Mass.) (200m) (30.78) rounded out the top Falcons efforts on the afternoon.
