MASCAC Women’s Outdoor Track Pre-Season Poll Announced
Falcons tabbed fourth with a total of 13 points
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team was recently selected fourth with a total of 13 points in the 2022 MASCAC Pre-Season Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coaches Poll as announced by the league office Friday afternoon.
The Bears of Bridgewater State were selected as the pre-season favorite to win the 2022 MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field crown after collecting four of the possible five first place ballots to amass a total of 24 points to outdistance second place Westfield State's total of 22 points, which included the final two first place ballots.
Finishing in third place with a total of 15 points was Worcester State, while Fitchburg State followed in fourth with 13 points. Framingham State was next, finishing in fifth with 11 points, while Mass. Maritime closed out this year's MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Poll in sixth with five points.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
