Falcons Shine At Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite

Camara notches pair of first place efforts for Green and Gold

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field team returned to action this afternoon as they hosted its annual Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational from Elliot Field, placing second overall out of 14 teams with a total of 93 points.

How It Happened

Sophomore Makany Camara (Lowell, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons placing first overall in high jump with a MASCAC qualifying make of 1.53 meters, while also earning top honors in the 100 meter hurdles with a post-season qualifying time of 16.71 seconds.

Graduate student Natasha McInnis (Leominster, Mass.) turned in a strong first place, MASCAC qualifying time of 13.05 seconds in the 100 meter, while junior Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) added a post-season qualifying time of 5:17.34 with a sixth place effort in the 1500 meter.

Murphy continued her solid afternoon, collecting a first place, post-season qualifying time of 2:33.35 in the 800 meter, while junior Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) posted a third place time of 13:28.34 in the 3000 meter to qualify for MASCAC'S.

McInnis collected her second top two finish, notching a second place effort in the 200 meter with a post-season qualifying time of 27.02 seconds, while junior Erin Donelan (Fitchburg, Mass.) placed fifth overall in the 100 meter hurdles with a MASCAC qualifying time of 19.42 seconds.

The 4x100 meter relay team of McInnis, Camara, sophomore Abbey Quirbach (Lowell, Mass.) and freshman Marjorie Veliotis (Stoughton, Mass.) registered a solid second place time of 53.59 seconds, while Donelan added a fifth place mark of 8.67 meters in the triple jump.

In the field, McInnis posted a third place finish in the long jump with a post-season qualifying mark of 4.73 meters, while newcomer Ephemian Bailey (Maple Grove, Minn.) registered a pair of post-season qualifying marks in the shot put (7th) (10.46m) and in the discus (8th) (29.28m) to round out the top Falcon efforts on the afternoon.
