Falcons Shine At Sean Collier Invitational

McInnis and McAndrew notch top five finishes for Green and Gold

Cambridge, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's outdoor track & field team returned to action this afternoon, competing at the 2022 Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT at the Sherie and Don Morrison Track.

How It Happened

Graduate student Natasha McInnis (Leominster, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons, placing third overall in the 100 meter with a MASCAC qualifying time of 12.86 seconds, while adding a seventh place time of 26.64 seconds in the 200 meter to qualify for the post-season.

Junior Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) was also solid for the Green and Gold, finishing fifth in the 3000 meter steeple chase with a post-season qualifying time of 13:54.21, while junior Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) notched a pair of MASCAC qualifying times in the 800 meter (2:32.15) (13th) and the 1500 meter (5:08.20) (6th).

The 4x100 meter relay team of sophomore Makany Camara (Lowell, Mass.), McInnis, sophomore Abbey Quirbach (Lowell, Mass.) and newcomer Marjorie Veliotis (Stoughton, Mass.) put forth a sixth place time of 54.47 seconds, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Murphy, Veliotis, McInnis and Quirbach posted a strong time of 5:03.87 after finishing seventh overall in the event.

In the field, Camara placed seventh in the high jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 1.48 meters, while newcomer Ephemian Bailey (Maple Grove, Minn.) posed a pair of post-season tosses in the shot put (10.38m) and the discus (32.62m) after finishing tenth and ninth respectively.

Rounding out the top Falcon efforts on the day were Quirbach (1:09.77) (20th) and Veliotis (1:11.94) (21st) in the 400 meter, while junior Erin Donelan (Fitchburg, Mass.) finished ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 8.60 meters.
