Women’s Cross Country Races at Purple Valley Classic

 


Williamstown, Mass. – 
The Fitchburg State women's cross country team placed eleventh at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College at Mt. Greylock High School on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

Place: 11th place, 293 points (11 Teams)

How It Happened                             

The Falcons were led by freshman Skye Goba (Norton, Mass.), who finished in 43rd with a time of 25:47.8. Senior Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) was close behind in 52nd place with a time of 26:28.0 over the 5K layout.

Following the duo for the Green and Gold were seniors Maria Burnett (Fitchburg, Mass.), Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn), and Sophie Geremia (Shrewsbury, Mass.)

Rounding out the top seven Falcon finishers were senior Courtney Brouillet (Fitchburg, Mass.) and Diana Marquez-Frias (Lowell, Mass.).

 

Amherst won the meet with a total of 38 points. Williams finished in second place (60) followed by WPI (105).

The Falcons return to action on Saturday (10/8) when they head to Westfield State for the James Earley Invitational.
