Murphy Leads Falcons at Suffolk Invitational

The Fitchburg State women's cross country team placed seventh at the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon. The race included over 30 teams across NCAA Division I, III, and Community Colleges.

How It Happened                             

The Green and Gold were again led by Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.). The senior crossed the 6K course with a time of 25:05, finishing 25th overall.  A pair of Falcons crossed seven seconds apart, junior Lilah McAndrew (Olde Lyme, Conn) and freshman Skye Goba (Norton, Mass.) finished with times of 25:55 and 26:02, respectively. 

Senior Maria Burnett (Fitchburg, Mass.) crossed the finish line in 40th place at 26:12, while classmate Sophie Geremia (Shrewsbury, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Fitchburg State in 84th (28:41).

Other Falcon finishers: Courtney Brouillet (Fitchburg, Mass.), 35:08 

Northeastern took the top spot with 23 points, followed by Boston University (56 points) and the University of New England (139 points).
