Murphy Captures Title, Falcons Finish 2nd at MASCAC Championship

Westfield, Mass. – Senior Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) took top honors at the 2022 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Cross Country Championships to pace the Falcons' team to a second-place finish this afternoon at Stanley Park hosted by Westfield State University.

How It Happened

Murphy captured the championship covering the 5K course in 19:16.25, just four seconds ahead of Nicole Major of Bridgewater State. Murphy was named the 2022 MASCAC Runner of the Year and earned MASCAC All-Conference accolades.

The Green and Gold had four runners in the top 15. Junior Lilah McAndrew (Olde Lyme, Conn) earned a MASCAC All-Conference nod with a 7^th place finish with a time of 19:52.84. Rookie Skye Goba (Norton, Mass.) placed 12^th (20:05.81) and senior Maria Burnett (Fitchburg, Mass.) crossed the chute in 15^th (20:27.57)

Freshman Diana Marquez-Frias (Lowell, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Falcons, finishing in 33^rd with a time of 21:59.48.
