Fitchburg State Hosts Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet

Amaral earns top honors to lead Falcons to third place finish

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's cross country teams hosted their annual Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet at the Doyle Conservation Center in this afternoon, placing third with 67 points.

Junior Brian Amaral led the pack for Fitchburg State, placing first overall with time of 26:15 over the 8k course, while classmate Jake Hastings turned in a solid time of 26:53 to place third overall.

Sophomore Anthony Darrigo was also strong for the Falcons, placing 13th with a time of 28:57, while senior Mike Martin posted a time of 29:37. Sophomore Mark Tonelli collected a time of 30:54, while senior Matthew Cuomo (31:32) and newcomer Troy Hoyt (31:68) rounded out the top efforts for the Falcons on the afternoon.

The Fitchburg State men's cross country team returns to action next Saturday as it travels to Trinity College for a meet starting at 10:30 a.m.
