Falcons Finalists in MASCAC Men’s Cross Country Championship

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's cross country hosted the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships at Doyle Conservation Center on Saturday morning.

The men finished second in the men's cross country championship with a total of 50 points, just behind the 2016 champions Westfield State University who captured the title with 34 overall points.

Falcons' junior Jake Hastings earned MASCAC Runner of the Year honors, placing first overall with at time of 26:02 over the 8k course. Joining Hastings as a member of the MASCAC All-Conference team are teammates Anthony Darrigo in seventh (26:36), Brian Amaral in ninth (26:54) and Joseph Darrigo in 10th (26:55). 

Senior Joseph Little rounded out the top five for the men finishing in 25th place with a time of 28:13.

Earning the 2016 MASCAC Rookie of the Year accolade was Trevor Wysong of Bridgewater State while Westfield State's Bill Devine was named the 2016 Champion's Choice Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year as voted on by his peers.

 

Members of the Fitchburg State men's cross country team will be in action again in two weekends as they compete at the NCAA Regional hosted by Westfield State, starting at 10:30 A.M.
