Men's Cross Country Closes Season At NCAA Regional Championship

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's cross country squad closed out the 2016 season on a high note at the 2016 NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships, held at Stanley Park Saturday afternoon.

The team placed 18th overall out of 56 school represented, earning the top spot among the MASCAC/Alliance conference.

Junior Jake Hastings, reigning MASCAC Runner of the Year, posted a time of 26:02 finishing in the 70th spot as the best runner from the conference. Junior Brian Amaral was just behind with a time of 26:16. The brother duo of Anthony and Joseph Darrigo finished next at 26:34 and 27:23 respectively. Senor Matthew Cuomo registered a time of 27:32, followed by Joseph Little at 28:21 and senior Michael Martin at 29:32.

Tim Nichols of Tufts won the individual championship covering the course in 23:54.

The Falcons have concluded the 2106 campaign.
