Fitchburg State Fall Sports Earn 13 All-Conference Honors

Women’s soccer paves the way with five nominations; Field Hockey earns three

FITCHBURG, Mass. (November 14, 2011) – The Fitchburg State fall sports teams collected 13 All-Conference honors this season as announced by their respective conferences this past weekend.

The Fitchburg State women’s soccer squad led all teams with five MASCAC All-Conference nominations, while the Falcons’ field hockey team earned three Little East awards. The men’s soccer and men’s cross country teams each added a pair of MASCAC nominations, while the Falcons’ football team rounded out the award winners with one honoree.

Senior Katie Hayward (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) received her second women’s soccer All-Conference honoree with a first team nomination, while classmate Carissa Kennedy (Somerset, Mass./Bishop Stang), senior Hannah Mitchell (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale), sophomore Rachel Jamieson (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) and classmate Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) were all named to the MASCAC second team.

Senior Megan Jacobs (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) also brought home an All-Conference first team award for the Fitchburg State field hockey team as she collected her second career accolade. In addition, junior Jamie Kelley (Pepperell, Mass./North Middlesex)  and senior Mari Roma (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) grabbed their second career nominations with third team honors.

On the pitch, seniors Brian Bettencourt (Norton, Mass./Norton) and Lionso Ventura (Westminster, Mass./Oakmont) were tabbed MASCAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference second team honorees, while senior Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse) and junior Will Lary (Winchendon, Mass./Murdock) turned in All-Conference efforts on the track. Senior Anthony Bizzotto (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) wrapped up the list of All-Conference honorees after being named to the New England Football Conference Bogan All-Division first team.
