Fitchburg State Athletics Launches NEW SAAC Website
Falcons kick-off 2009 SAAC program with Team of the Year events this evening
FITCHBURG, Mass. (October 21, 2009) - The Fitchburg State athletic department launched its new Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) website this week as announced by CHAMPS/Life Skills coordinator, Michelle Walsh.
The new and improved website will give the SAAC program an interactive approach of communicating, while providing members with live news updates, event schedules and informational links. The website will also provide live, up-to-date standings for the Falcons Team of the Year program, a competition among all Falcon athletic teams that recognizes excellence in the five key areas of the CHAMPS/Life Skills program: academic excellence, athletic excellence, personal development, career development, and community service.
"The new website will help generate interest and excitement for the programming we conduct here at FSC to promote student-athlete development," said Michelle Walsh. "The site will also provide a great avenue to communicate how active our student-athletes are on campus and in the local community."
Fitchburg State will kick-off its 2009 SAAC program this week with several community based events, beginning with its Team of the Year initiative this evening. Fitchburg State will be hosting a day/night doubleheader as the Falcons soccer team and field hockey team will be in action at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. All student athletes are encouraged to attend and support their fellow athletes, while earning points for their respective teams.
In addition to the Team of the Year events, Fitchburg State SAAC members will also be participating in "A Night at the Rec," on October 23 and the Take A Kid to the Game festivities on October 24. With both events, SAAC members will be able to represent the Fitchburg State student athletes while playing an active role within the Fitchburg community.
