Bruce Grealey

 

2012 Inductee - 1957 Graduate 

Bruce Grealey was in a class by himself throughout his four-year student athletic career at Fitchburg State. A three-sport athlete, Bruce excelled in basketball, soccer and baseball, serving as captain of the basketball and soccer teams for all four of his years with each squad. In basketball, Bruce averaged nearly 25 points per game, ranking fifth in scoring among small New England colleges. An everyday player in baseball, Bruce was a dominant first-baseman who pitched every five days. Known for his leadership both on and off the field, he was a mentor and role model to his teammates. After graduation, Bruce continued his basketball career, playing semi-professionally at the Boston Garden and competed in several championship games. At the conclusion of his playing career, Bruce coached at Framingham State, where he led the men's basketball team to three NCAA tournaments and four ECAC tournaments during his 11-year tenure. Bruce continued to pursue his passion for athletics by officiating baseball, soccer and softball for more than 25 years. Off the court and field, Bruce was a dedicated teacher in the Framingham public school system for 40 years.

Bruce currently resides in West Bradenton, Fla., and considers himself blessed in life to have his two daughters and one son.
