James Sheehan - 1998 Inductee

Jim Sheehan coached cross-country and track & field at FSC from 1973-1982, turning the Falcon program into a track powerhouse in New England and the nation. After stints at Boston University and Boston College, Sheehan returned to coach at FSC from 1988-95. In 1979, he was honored as the New England track and field Coach of the Year. He led Fitchburg State to its three MASCAC titles in 1981, 1982 and 1992. Sheehan also coached FSC to its two cross-country MASCAC titles in 1980 and 1982. He coached 16 All-Americans, including five individual national champions and one relay national champion, seven New England Champions and Olympian Willis Todman. Eighteen school records set under the leadership of Sheehan still stand. Jim Sheehan has been a professor in the physical education department at Fitchburg State College since 1973.
