Falcons Garner Three MASCAC First-Team Accolades

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Massachusetts State Collegiate Conference (MASCAC) has announced its year-end spring accolades and three members of the Fitchburg State University baseball team were selected to first team all-conference.

Leading the pack is sophomore designated hitter Steven Drury Jr., who collects his second first team honor in as many years. The Leominster native was tied for the team-high with 13 RBI, while belting a team-leading three home runs on 22 hits total.

Junior catcher Brendan Cutler finished the regular season with a .289 average with 13 RBI and a team-high eight doubles to go along with a respectable .990 fielding percentage behind the dish with eight runners caught stealing.

Not to be out-done, younger brother Kyle Cutler proved to be the ace of the staff as the sophomore right-hander led the Green & Gold in nearly every pitching statistic over the regular season. Logging a team-high 41 innings pitched over six starts, K. Cutler sported an impressive 1.09 ERA with four wins and only five earned runs, while striking out a team-leading 41 with three complete games.

The Falcons finished the with a 12-18 (5-9 MASCAC) mark in the regular season and will take on Sterling Cup rival Worcester State on Thursday in the opening round of the conference tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm in Worcester.
