Tommy Parsons Signs With Wachusett Dirt Dawgs

Peabody, Mass. native signs contract with the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman pitcher Tommy Parsons recently signed a contract through the rest of the season with the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs of the Future Collegiate Baseball League of New England (FCBL).

The first-year Falcon helped led Fitchburg State to its second straight appearance in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) baseball post-season tournament after the Green and Gold claimed the sixth seed in the tournament.

Parsons saw action in 11 games for the Falcons during his rookie campaign with nine strikeouts in 9.2 innings of work, while limiting opponents to a .293 batting average.

The FCBL is summer collegiate baseball league throughout the New England region and made up of student-athletes from across all three divisions in NCAA.

The league plays a 56 game (28 home & 28 away), nine-week schedule concluding in early August. The League Championship is determined by a playoff immediately after the season ends. Each year their top players are scouted with some of the players selected in the MLB Draft.

The Fitchburg State baseball team recently concluded the 2015 season with an overall record of 12-19 and a 5-9 mark in conference play.
