Baseball Partners Up With The Community

 Fitchburg State baseball gives back

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Over the years, the Fitchburg State baseball team has been searching for the right direction, finding the solution in current head coach and Leominster native Kevin Barnaby. Barnaby comes from a city where it was all about giving, so it his turn to give back.

The Fitchburg State baseball teamed has joined together with three local organizations in hopes to not only help the community but to show to all, that helping a little can go a long way.

On Saturday, November 7th members of the baseball team teamed up with the North Leominster Little League in their annual fall clean up. The players partnered up with families from the little league and even the young ball payers themselves to clean up leaves, stack tables, and take down banners on the fences.

The following day, the Falcons partnered with the Highlands Nursing Home as players spent the day with patients, watching the Patriots game as well as exchanging stories of their lives with some of the patients at the nursing home. Following those two efforts, the Falcon's looked to continue their strive of giving back and found it in a local but well known organization, The Salvation Army.

From the week of Monday, November 16th through the following Monday (11/23) the Green and Gold have teamed up with the Salvation Army for their Kettle Bell Campaign. Each weeknight players will be at three local Market Baskets, ringing the bell to collect funds for the Salvation Army. These funds go to the ones in need and help them to have a great holiday season.

The Fitchburg State baseball team will open its 2016 season on Thursday, March 3rd as they travel to Boston to take on the Falcons of Fisher College for a contest starting at 3 p.m.
