Macomber Named MASCAC Baseball Rookie Of The Week

Berkley, Mass. native registers first weekly accolade of the year

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman infielder Joshua Macomber was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Macomber earns his first weekly honor on the season after batting .375 (6-of-16) with five runs scored, three runs batted in and a pair of walks in a 2-2-1 week for the Green and Gold. The first-year Falcon finished 3-for-6 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in a double header sweep of Worcester State on Monday before adding two hits in Fitchburg State's 7-7 draw with Dean College on Thursday afternoon.

The Fitchburg State baseball team (14-19-1 (7-7 MASCAC) returns to action on Thursday as it hosts the sixth seeded Rams of Framingham State University for a MASCAC opening round contest, starting at 3 p.m.
