How It Happened

Colby-Sawyer grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Falcons answered with their biggest inning of the season scoring  9 runs. The Green and Gold knotted the game with RBI singles from senior Vincent Eramo (Shirley, Mass,) and Richard Sharp (Townsend, Mass.). Next Zachary Malek (Schenectady, NY) delivered a 2-RBI double to center field and crossed the plate on a single from Christopher Masta (Peabody, Mass.). Junior Jaime Velez (Lowell, Mass.) came to the dish with the bases loaded and belted a single to left field for 2 RBI, and the host capitalized on a Charger miscue to push the score to 9-2 after one.

The Chargers chipped away at the lead as junior Tommy Sasso (Grafton, Mass.) and classmate Ian Turpel (Cohasset, Mass.) collected RBI's in the second. Trailing 9-5 in the fourth, senior Jonathan Martinez (Stony Point, NY) laced a single up the middle scoring Cooper O'Brien (Vergennes, Vt.) and Sasso blasted a home run in the fifth to close the gap to 9-8.

The Falcons added insurance runs in the eighth inning. With two outs, Sharp cranked a triple to left field and scored when  Malek followed with a double to left field. Masta singled up the middle to score Malek and scored two batters later as Zachary Morris (Salem, NH) singled through the left side.
