How It Happened
Senior Nick Martin (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and freshman Sam Palmer (Medfield, Mass.) opened the game with back-to-back hits for the Owls. Sophomore Trey Faulkner (Springfield, Mass.) brought both runners home with a deep double to left field to give Westfield State the early 2-0 lead.
The Falcons evened the score with one swing of the bat. With one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, Connor Morehouse (Weatherby Lake, MO) reached on an infield single. Vincent Eramo (Shirley, Mass.) stepped to the plate next and smashed his MASCAC leading fifth home run of the season, to left-centerfield.
Westfield State broke the stalemate in the top of the eighth inning. Nick Martin delivered an RBI double down the left-field line scoring senior Zack Graveline (Prospect, Conn.) who had singled to open the frame. The visitors would tack on another run on a throwing error from the Falcons' defense. The Green and Gold kept it a 4-2 game with an outstanding outfield relay to cut an Owls' run down at the plate.
