Falcons Doubled Up By Rams In Conference Action

Morris drives in a pair for Green and Gold

Framingham, Mass. - The Fitchburg State University baseball team dropped an 8-4 decision to the Rams of Framingham State University this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Bowditch Field.

The Basics

Score: Fitchburg State 4, Framingham State 8

Records: Fitchburg State (9-29, 5-14 MASCAC) I Framingham State (10-25, 5-14 MASCAC)

How It Happened

Framingham State grabbed a 3-0 edge in the bottom of the first as sophomore Ryan Boyle (Arlington, Mass.) doubled to right field before freshman Lucas Basile (Upton, Mass.) singled to left to bring home Boyle. Senior Kennedy Wilson (Natick, Mass.) followed with a two-run shot to centerfield.

The Rams extended their lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth with freshman Steven Burbank (Canton, Mass.) launching a two-run home run to left field, while Boyle added a run scoring single.

Fitchburg State answered in the top half of the sixth when senior Vincent Eramo (Shirley, Mass.) walked, moved to second and third on back-to-back singled from graduate student Richard Sharp (Townsend, Mass.) and freshman Jacob Hurrell (Haverhill, Mass.) before senior Zachary Morris (Salem, N.H.) laced a two-run single through the left side and an RBI single to right center off the bat of newcomer Liam Goldstein (Charlestown, R.I.) to make the score 7-3.

The Falcons cut the deficit to 8-4 in the following frame as junior Connor Morehouse (Wetherby Lake, Mo.) down the left field line and crossed the plate on an RBI double from Eramo, but that's as close as the Green and Gold would get as Framingham State reliever Ryan Morry (Attleboro, Mass.) pitched a pair of scoreless innings, resulting in the 8-4 final.
