Falcons Topped by Owls in Non-Conference Nine

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State baseball team dropped a 10-7 decision to the Owls of Keene State in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Riccards Field.

How It Happened

Keene State grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Brendan Eaton (Nottingham, NH) delivered a sacrifice fly and freshman Tommy Ahlers (Salem, NH) homered to left field.

Fitchburg State rallied in the bottom of the frame when sophomore Nolan Hills (Danvers, Mass.) singled through the left side plating Maxwell Riordan (Pepperell, Mass.) and Vincent Eramo (Shirley, Mass.) to go ahead 4-3.

Keene State retook the lead in the top of the third inning with a 2 RBI single from Josh Beayon (Pittsford, VT).

Fitchburg State knotted the score at 6-6 with runs in the fifth and sixth inning however Keene State upped their lead to 10-6 scoring two runs in each the seventh and ninth inning. Eramo added an RBI in the bottom of the stanza for the 10-7 final.

Inside the Numbers

  • Sophomore Jason Bickford (Exeter, NH) suffered the setback for the Falcon allowing seven earned runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts
  • David Floyd earned the win for the Owls and Shea Zina notched his fifth save of the season
  • Maxwell Kelly (E. Bridgewater, Mass.), Eramo, and Hills each had two hits for the Green and Gold
