Bizzotto To Participate In March NFL Combine

Leominster, Mass. native selected for BSN Collegiate All-Star Game and Pro Day

FITCHBURG, Mass. (February 23, 2012) – Recent graduate Anthony Bizzotto (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) has recently been selected to participate in the Beyond Sports Network’s (BSN) Collegiate Showcase All Star Game and the D2-D3 Pro Day this coming March.

The BSN Collegiate Showcase will take place, March 9th through March 11th, at the Stile Athletic Field House on the campus of the University of Akron, in Akron Ohio. This unique event is offered to football athletes from the FCS, Division II, Division III, and NAIA branches of college football.

"We are excited to showcase the best athletes from the various levels of college football to the professional football leagues,” said BSN CEO, Jimmy Kibbler. “Providing an event like ours will offer the best athletes from every level a chance to have a comparable experience that I received when I competed in the Hula Bowl and The NFL Combine."

To date, the BSN portal has allowed numerous players at the college level to achieve their goals of continuing their playing career at the NFL, CFL, UFL, AFL, and other indoor league levels. The “collegiate showcase weekend” will spotlight over 200 of the best football players nationwide from the FCS & other levels of college football, displaying their skills for professional scouts, coaches, and other pro personnel.

"The event will basically be a combination of the testing that takes place at the NFL Combine, practice sessions similar to the Senior Bowl, and an All-Star game experience with each player receiving more repetitions at their position,” said BSN COO, Dan Evans. “We are excited to give each athlete the opportunity to display their all-around football skills by providing a unique and once in a lifetime opportunity."

In addition to the BSN All-Star game, Bizzotto will also participate in the D2-D3 Pro Day and National Scouting Combine on  March 2nd. The combine will be hosted at the Pinelands Sports Center in Southampton, N.J.

The D2-D3 Pro Day is the nation's first and only Division II and Division III Pro Day and Combine for seniors after the regular season. All-Americans represent the best seniors in DII and DIII and the selection board is made up of pro scouts, NFL and CFL agents, and former NFL coaches and players. Last year, over 140 top DII and DIII players competed.

Bizzotto, a three-year member of the Fitchburg State football team, earned his first career All-American honor this season after being named to the 2011 BSN All-American third team. The senior linebacker followed that honor with a second All-American award, being named to the 2011 DII/DIII East Preps All-American squad.

On March 1st, Bizzotto will also attend the East Preps Special Teams Camp, a mock NFL minicamp conducted by Coach Stock of the Green Bay Packers. Selection to the camp is through invite only and will consist of a pen and paper classroom style instruction, film session, and on-field implementation and coaching.

This season, Bizzotto completed a breakout senior season with Fitchburg State, leading both the Falcons and the New England Football Conference (NEFC) with 106 total tackles. The senior line-backer notched 63 solo stops and 43 assists, while averaging nearly 12.0 tackles per game. For his efforts his was selected to the 2011 Team Stars and Stripes roster, while also earning Worcester All-Area honors.
