Dellechiaie Earns ECAC DIII North Accolade

Leominster, Mass. native named ECAC North DIII Offensive Rookie of the Year

FITCHBURG, Mass. (December 20, 2013) – Freshman quarterback Garrett Dellechiaie (Leominster, Mass.) was recently named ECAC Division III North Offensive Rookie of the Year as announced by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) office Wednesday afternoon.

The first year Falcon witnessed a stellar rookie campaign, throwing for 1,930 yards on 149-of-249 passing (59.8%), while tossing 25 touchdowns through the air, breaking the Falcons single season touchdown passes record of 21 set by former Fitchburg State standout quarterback Jim Miller in 2008.

In addition to his ECAC DIII North accolade, Garrett was also a two time Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Rookie of the Week honoree, while also being crowned MASCAC Rookie of the Year and Worcester All-Area Freshman of the Year.

The Fitchburg State football team concluded the 2013 season with an overall record of 6-4 and a 5-3 mark within the MASCAC.
