Fitchburg State Promotes TAKG Program This Weekend

Join the Falcons for the NCAA’s 19th annual Take A Kid to the Game program, Saturday October 12th at 1:30 p.m.

FITCHBURG, Mass. (October 9, 2013) – The Fitchburg State athletic department will be hosting the NCAA’s 19th annual Take A Kid to the Game (TAKG) program this Saturday, October 12th as the Fitchburg State football team hosts the Lancers of Worcester State at 1:30 p.m.

The TAKG program is a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation’s youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college football games. Youth will have the opportunity to experience the college game-day atmosphere and some exciting action as they watch the Falcons battle the Lancers for a MASCAC victory.

Fitchburg State is hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation in honor of the Take A Kid to the Game program. All adults who bring a child to Elliot Field, age fourteen or younger, will receive one, FREE, adult admission to this weekend’s game.

“We encourage you to save the date as this is a very exciting event where kids from the community will have a chance to be a part of our game day experience,” said Director of Athletics, Sue Lauder. “This is a great opportunity for children to spend quality time with a parent or role model and learn about the type of sportsmanship that can be demonstrated on the playing field.”

In honor of TAKG day, Fitchburg State will select three lucky individuals to participate in its Super Fan’s, Throw It Like A Falcon Half-Time Challenge. We encourage ALL Falcon fans to stick around and cheer on our participants, while enjoying some great half-time fun and entertainment.

The Take A Kid to the Game program is a national promotion of NCAA Football, the marketing arm of collegiate football. NCAA Football represents a coalition of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the Conference Commissioners Association.
