Football Names Three To DIII Senior Classic
Saint-Juste, Barksdale and Coan to represent Falcons at 2014 DIII Senior Classic
FITCHBURG, Mass. – Three members of the Fitchburg State football team were recently selected to play in the 2014 DIII Senior Classic on Saturday, December 20th in Myrtle Beach, S.C. as seniors Phillip Saint-Juste, Talib Barksdale and Brendan Coan earned selections for the Green and Gold.
Barksdale finished the 2014-15 season, ranking first on the squad and third in the conference with 92 stops (58 solo, 34 assisted) as well as 12 TFL's, three sacks, two interceptions and four passes defended for the Falcons.
Saint-Juste etched his named into Falcons record book, concluding the 2014-15 campaign with a team-best 65 receptions for 783 yards and nine touchdowns to set a new Fitchburg State career TD receptions mark with 19 career receiving TD's, while also adding a 51 yard onside kickoff return for a touchdown.
Coan anchored the Falcons offensive line, starting all ten contests for the Green and Gold from the left tackle position to help lead the Fitchburg State offense to over 4100 total yards (1280 rushing and 2868 passing) and 36 touchdowns (10 rushing and 26 passing).
The D3 Senior Classic has been the premier all-star experience for Division III football players since its inception in 2009.
The D3 Senior Classic brings together some of Division III's best to Salem, Va. each December to compete in a North vs South format all-star game. Each year, the D3 Senior Classic provides its participants and their families with an unmatched experience including a banquet to pay tribute to their stellar football careers.
The Fitchburg State football team recently concluded the 2014-15 season with an overall record of 6-4 and a 4-4 clip in the MASCAC.
