Monette Named to D3football All-Region Team

FITCHBURG, MA: D3football.com released their selections for All-Region Teams early this afternoon. Fitchburg State's Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) was selected and placed on the Region 1 First Team for his special team's play and performance on the Falcons defensive line. 

NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Region 1 includes the Commonwealth Coast Conference, Eastern Collegiate Football Conference, Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, Middle Atlantic Conference, New England Small College Athletic Conference, and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference.

Monette earned a spot on the Region 1 First Team as a special teamer after finishing this season with four blocked kicks, second in the country. During the regular season, he was among the top 10 in tackles for loss, and he currently ranks 12th in the nation in this category. 

This season was the defensive linemen's best so far. He racked up 55 tackles (29 solo, 26 assisted), 4.5 sacks, and 19.5 tackles for loss. His tackles for loss caused opposing offenses to lose a total of 97 yards on the season. Monete even added two forced fumbles and two pass breakups.
