Jacobs Named LEC Offensive Player of the Week

Stoughton, Mass. native collects first weekly honor of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. (September 28, 2010) – Fitchburg State senior Megan Jacobs (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) was named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Jacobs earns her first weekly honor of the season after leading the Fitchburg State field hockey team to a 2-0 week. The senior captain notched ten points throughout the week, posting three markers in a 9-0 victory over Rivier College and a pair of scores in a 3-1 come from behind victory over Salem State University.

 This season, Jacobs ranks first on the Falcons squad in scoring, posting a team-high 16 points on six goals and four assists. She has guided the Falcons offense to a conference best 3.67 goals per game, posting a league-best 43 shots, while ranking among the top ten in points (6th), goals (7th), and assists (3rd).            

The Fitchburg State field hockey team (4-2, 2-1 LEC) will be back in action tomorrow as it hosts UMass Dartmouth in a pivotal Little East match up starting at 7 p.m.
