Brown and the Fitchburg State defense kept the conference leading Corsairs in check for the entire match, but Eleanor Taylor's (Fairhaven, Mass./Bishop Stang) marker in the third minute of the match proved to be the eventual game-winner. Taylor teamed up with senior Becca Festinger (Greenfield, Mass./Greenfield) early in the first frame as the Corsairs grabbed a 1-0 lead at the 2:41 mark.

The rest of the contest was a hard fought, defensive battle with neither team's defense giving way for the final 67:19. UMass Dartmouth freshman goaltender Kelsey Gallo (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) sparked the Corsair backline with seven saves in net while earning her first collegiate shutout.

UMass Dartmouth, recipient of 12 corner attempts throughout the game, took advantage of its first half opportunities as the Corsairs converted 1-of-2 its two shots on net. Fitchburg State battled the entire contest, posting six shots on goal in the first frame and several corners attempts down the stretch, but the Corsairs defense stood strong, limiting the Falcons to only five, second half shots.

Sophomore Jamie Kelley (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) and senior Megan Jacobs (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) led Fitchburg State with three shots apiece, while UMass Dartmouth sophomore Erica Allan (Amherst, Mass./Amherst) led all shooters with five targets on the night.

Fitchburg State (4-3, 2-2 LEC) will be in action again on Saturday as it hosts Framingham State at 10 a.m. UMass Dartmouth (6-4, 4-0) will travel to Salem State on Saturday at 12 p.m.
