Stearns Named LEC Offensive Player Of The Week

Mystic, Conn. native collects pair of LEC weekly honors

FITCHBURG, Mass. (October 22, 2013) – Freshman forward Stephanie Stearns (Mystic, Conn.) collects her first two weekly honors of the season after being named the Little East Conference’s (LEC) Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Stearns posted a pair of markers, including the game-winning tally in the Falcons 3-2 victory over LEC rival Western Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon in Fitchburg State’s lone contest of the week. This season, Stephanie currently ranks second on the squad with nine points on four scores and one helper.

The Fitchburg State field hockey team will be back in action on Tuesday as it visits UMass Dartmouth at 7 p.m.
