Field Hockey Names Four To LEC All-Academic Team

Gallagher, Pacheco, Polimeni and Richard earn LEC All-Academic Honors

FITCHBURG, Mass. Junior Emma Polimeni and sophomores Maggie Gallagher, Alanah Pacheco and Molly Richard were recently named to the 2016 Little East Conference Fall All-Academic team as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Members of the 2016 LEC All-Academic team must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the 2016 spring semester and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The student-athlete must also be a full-time member of a varsity sport and be enrolled in its institution for a full academic year.

Polimeni, a three-year member of the Fitchburg State field hockey team, achieved her earn her second straight nomination, while Gallagher, Pacheco and Richard all earned their first selections.

This season, Polimeni aided a Falcon defense that limited opponents to a minimal 1.24 goals per contest, seeing action in 14 games for the Green and Gold, while Gallagher posted four points on one goal and two assists, including her first collegiate tally in a 5-0 win over Framingham State on Oct. 1st.

Richard witness a stellar 2016 season, collecting a team-leading 41 points on 18 goals and five helpers as well as six game winners, while Pacheco contributed to a Falcon offense that averaged 2.3 goals per game.

The Fitchburg State field hockey team concluded its 2016 campaign with an overall record of 13-6 and a 7-4 mark in the LEC.
