Field Hockey Names Five To National Academic Squad
Gallagher, Pacheco, Pare, Polimeni and Richard earn ZAG/NFHCA DIII National Academic honors
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team recently earned the 2016 ZAG Field Hockey/ NFHCA Team Academic Award for achieving a cumulative team Grade Point Average of 3.02 as well as having five members named to the 2016 ZAG Field Hockey/ NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Thursday morning.
Sophomores Maggie Gallagher, Alanah Pacheco, Mia Pare and Molly Richard as well as junior Emma Polimeni each earned 2016 ZAG Field Hockey/ NFHCA Individual Academic Awards for achieving a grade point average of 3.3 or high during the 2016 fall semester.
In addition, Richard also earned 2016 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division Scholars of Distinction honors for having achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 or higher through the first semester for the 2016-17 academic year.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year, while also recognizing teams who have cumulatively achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Members of the 2016 Fitchburg State field hockey team included Madeline Hoffman, Jillian Schultze, Sarah Bailey, Erin Morrissey, Rachael Denning, Casey Noonan, Kristen Palmer, Olivia Grant, Bailey Miller, Taylor Eyles, Kerra Anastasia, Molly Richard, Emily Petit, Maggie Gallagher, Aaliyha Baldwin-Pierce, Emma Polimeni, Mia Pare, Alanah Pacheco, Nicole Fors, Selina Fascioli, Jordyn Conway and Brittany Linane
The Fitchburg State field hockey team concluded its 2016 campaign with an overall record of 13-6 and a 7-4 mark in the LEC.
