Leicester, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey snapped a two-game winless streak with a decisive 7-0 victory over Becker College on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action on Alumni Field.

How It Happened

Green and Gold forward Molly Richard (Leominster, Mass) in the fourth minute and sophomore forward Aislinn DeHorsey (Leominster, Mass.) in the 12th minute quickly made it 2-0 visitors.

Freshman Kaelie Hosley (Barre, Mass.)  concluded the first half by finishing a tic-tac-toe play from Sophia Laperle (Auburn, Mass.) and  Kerra Anastasia (Mansfield, Mass.) for a 3-0 Falcon advantage.

The Falcons would add four more goals in the second half. Senior defender Rachael Denning (Salem, N.H.) started the scoring in the stanza, followed by senior forward  Anastasia in the 43rd minute, sophomore midfielder Olivia Grant (Portsmouth, N.H.) in the 47th minute and by Richard in the 65th minute for the 7-0 final.

Inside the Numbers

The Falcons of Fitchburg State received seven goals from six different players.

DeHorsey's goal was her first at a Falcon, while Hosley and Grant notched their first collegiate goal.

The Hawks of Becker (0-6) junior goalkeeper Alexis Barry (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) recorded 16 saves in net.

Fitchburg State sophomore goalkeeper Rhiannon Fletcher (Royalston, Mass.) picked up the win, playing all 35 minutes of the first half.

The Falcons outshot the Hawks, 30-5.
