Gladu nets first collegiate tally for Fitchburg State in non-conference victory

Fitchburg, Mass. – Three different players netted goals for Fitchburg State as the Falcons defeated Anna Maria College, 3-0 in non-conference field hockey action this evening at Elliot Field.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State took the lead in the 21st minute of action as freshman forward Chloe Gladu (North Reading, Mass.) found the back of the cage for her first collegiate tally for the 1-0 advantage.

The Falcons doubled its margin (2-0) just before the half when senior midfielder Bailey Miller (Leominster, Mass.) settled a feed from Gladu off a penalty corner and blasted a shot inside the near post for her fifth goal on the season.

Following intermission, the Green and Gold upped its lead at the 43:45 mark as senior forward Casey Noonan (Feeding, Mass.) redirected a shot off the stick of Miller, inside the far post for her third goal of the year, resulting in the 3-0 final.

Inside the Numbers

26th meeting between two schools in field hockey with the Falcons 16-10-0 when taking on the Amcats.

Falcons have won the last six contest against the Amcats with Anna Maria's last win against Fitchburg State coming on Sept. 23, 2004 (3-1).

Sophomore goaltenders Rhiannon Fletcher (Royalston, Mass.) and Kasey Mammone (Leominster, Mass.) combined to stop four shots for the Falcons, while senior Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.) made six first half saves for the Amcats.

Fitchburg State finished with a 17-11 margin in shots, while also holding a 15-4 edge in penalty corners.
