Falcons Earn Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Team Award

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team recently earned the 2019 ZAG Field Hockey/ NFHCA Team Academic Award for achieving a cumulative team Grade Point Average of above a 3.00 as announced by the NFHCA last week.

The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year, while also recognizing teams who have cumulatively achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

In addition, eight Falcon players were also named to the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad with those players being senior Olivia Grant (Portsmouth, N.H.), junior Sophia Laperle (Auburn, Mass.) and freshmen Grace Kerr (Holliston, Mass,), Colleen Lamprey (Cherry Valley, Mass.), Shelley Lielasus (Ashby, Mass.), Kayla Mathews (East Falmouth, Mass.), Lena Spadafore (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Hannah Walters (Danielson, Conn.) each earned 2019 ZAG Field Hockey/ NFHCA Individual Academic Awards for achieving a grade point average of 3.3 or high during the 2019 fall semester

Members of the 219 Fitchburg State field hockey team included Sophia Sousa, Sarah Craig, Shelley Lielasus, Lena Spadafore, Jordan Bartell, Sophia Morse, Olivia Grant, Yuleinny Salcedo, Joanna Ehnstrom, Sophia Laperle, Chloe Gladu, Hannah Walters, Nicole Tocco, Grace Kerr, Maddison Arpano, Kayla Mathews, Hannah Rivera and Colleen Lamprey.
