Fitchburg, Mass. - The Fitchburg State University field hockey team dropped the 2021 home opener this afternoon 7-3 against the Springfield Pride at Elliot Field

How it Happened
Fitchburg State opened the scoring when Lena Spadafore (Lunenburg, MA) had a nifty tip off an initial corner hit from Joyce Arbia (Sag Harbor, NY) just two minutes into the game. Springfield countered with a tally from Emma Robinson after she collected a rebound off the pads of Falcons netminder Jenna Morse (Leominster, Mass.) to tie the game. Springfield would add a pair of goals from Carly Torrance (Concord, NH) and Audrey Bresciano (Greenfield, Mass.) to hold a 3-1 at intermission.
Trailing 4-1, senior Emily Iacovelli (Northbridge, Mass.) collected a loose pass off a corner for her third goal of the season. The Pride would push the lead to 7-2 including a second goal of the game from Torrance before the Green and Gold's senior Sarah Craig (Ashburnham, Mass.) would score for the 7-3 final.

- Morse had a team-high of seven saves in the first half, Colleen Lamprey (Cherry Valley, Mass.) had 4 stops in the second half.
- Freshman Lyndsey DeLasho (Croton on the Hudson, NY) made 3 save for Springfield in the win.
