Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey team dropped a close match 2-1 to the visiting Raiders of Rivier University on Thursday evening at Elliot Field.

How It Happened
Junior Lena Spadafore (Lunenburg, Mass.) put the Falcons up early in the first frame, she corralled a loose ball from newcomer Alexis Raymond (Tewksbury, Mass.) for her second goal of the season.
The Raiders answered in the second quarter. Senior Maegan Sheehy (Sebattus, Maine) redirected a drive from the top of the circle off the stick of Lia Yohanan (Andover, NJ) off a penalty corner to knot the score at 1-1 headed to intermission.
Rivier forged ahead 2-1 in the 33rd minute when Yohanan converted a penalty stroke after a defensive miscue in the circle by the Falcons. Yohanan's second goal of the season proved to be the game winner after a scoreless fourth quarter.

- Rivier held the advantage in shots (14-11) and both teams had eight corners apiece.
- Senior Sarah Craig (Ashburnham, Mass.) recorded a defensive save
- FSU freshman Jenna Morse (Leominster, Mass.) made nine saves in net for the Falcons
