Morse notched fifth career shutout for Green and Gold
Mansfield, Conn. – The Fitchburg State University Field Hockey team defeated the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State, 1-0 this afternoon in Little East Conference (LEC) action from the Rick McCarthy Field.

How It Happened
Fitchburg State threatened in the second minute of play as freshman Sophia Yates (Woodstock, Vt.) fired back-to-back shots on target, but Eastern Connecticut State keeper Sarah Gallagher (South Windsor, Conn.) turned aside both shots.
The Warriors best scoring opportunity of the first half occurred at the 9:43 mark of the opening frame with freshman Emma Sanson (Thomaston, Conn.) putting a shot on frame only to have Falcon netminder Jenna Morse (Leominster, Mass.) deny the shot.
The score remained deadlocked at 0-0 until late in the second quarter when Fitchburg State freshman Lena Kassel (Stuttgart, Germany) blasted a shot into the upper left corner of the cage for her team-leading 18th marker on the season for the 1-0 edge.
Following the intermission, the Green and Gold nearly doubled its lead in the 44th minute of play as junior Jessica Morse (Leominster, Mass.) and senior Sarah Craig (Winchendon, Mass.) has a pair of quality scoring chances, but Gallagher stood tall for the Warriors to keep the score at 1-0.
With time winding down, Eastern Connecticut State saw its best opportunity to force overtime at the 56:56 mark with graduate student Bryce Makula (Guilford, Conn.) riffling a shot towards frame, but Morse made the save to preserve the 1-0 victory for the Falcons.
