Gorham, Maine. – The Fitchburg State University Field Hockey team suffered a tough 1-0 setback to the Huskies of Southern Maine this evening in Little East Conference (LEC) action from Hannaford Field.

How It Happened
Fitchburg State threatened early in the contest with senior Sarah Craig (Ashburnham, Mass.) and junior Joyce Arbia (Sag Harbor, N.Y.) firing shots on target, only to have Southern Maine netminder Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) deny both shots.
The Huskies opened the scoring at the 27:44 mark as sophomore Abigail Chartier (Lewiston, Maine) collected a feed from classmate Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine) and buried a shot into the back of the cage for her sixth marker on the season to make the score 1-0.
Following the intermission, Fitchburg State nearly knotted the score in the 39th minute of action when freshman Lena Kassel (Stuttgart, Germany) fired back-to-back shots on frame, but Folsom made a save, while classmate Olivia Staggs (Sabattus, Maine) added a defensive save, resulting in the 1-0 final.
