Falcons earn first MASCAC victory of the season behind Graham's 14 points

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (January 24, 2009) - Junior Tim Graham (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) led all scorers with a game-high 14 points as Fitchburg State collected its first MASCAC victory of the season, defeating MCLA, 79-61 this afternoon.

Graham led the Falcons on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, while hitting a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Classmate Colin London (Worcester, Mass./Doherty) and senior Brian Torres (North Dighton, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) both added 13 points in the contest, while senior Brian Skiffington (North Adams, Mass./Hoosac Valley) finished with ten points and three steals.

Junior Jeff Sprague (North Adams, Mass./Drury) led the MCLA charge with ten points while sophomore Jon Greenberg (Antwerp, Belgium / Dennis-Yarmouth) notched nine points and a team-high ten boards.

Fitchburg State grabbed an 11 point lead (34-23) at the break as Torres led the hot-shooting Falcons with ten points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. The Falcons completed 45.2% of their shots in the first half, including 50.0% (4-of-8) from three point range.

In the second half, Fitchburg State continued its offensive pressure, exploding for 45 points in the frame. London led the Falcons charge with 11 points and four rebounds, while Graham was perfect from the floor (2-of-2) and the charity stripe (4-of-4), collecting eight points and two boards.

Fitchburg State (6-9, 1-4 MASCAC) will be in action again on Tuesday as it hosts Westfield State College at 7:30 p.m. MCLA (1-16, 0-5 MASCAC) will travel to Bridgewater State on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
