Manderson Named Head Men’s Basketball Coach At Fitchburg State

Manderson becomes 12th head coach in program history

FITCHBURG, Mass. (August 22, 2013) – Fitchburg State University has named Titus Manderson as the 12th head coach in the history of the men's basketball program this afternoon. The announcement was made by Sue Lauder, Director of Athletics at the University.

"I am very pleased to name Titus Manderson as the new head men's basketball coach at Fitchburg State University,” said Lauder. "Titus brings great enthusiasm and knowledge to the University and I am very excited to have him join our staff.”

Manderson joins the Fitchburg State sidelines after spending the past 15 seasons with MASCAC rival, Salem State University. Serving as the Vikings’ Associate Head Coach, Manderson guided Salem State to three MASCAC league titles, two NCAA Northeast Regionals and one NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen appearance. In addition, Manderson recruited three All-American selections, while mentoring eight MASCAC Players of the Year and three MASCAC Rookies of the Year.

Before joining the sidelines, Manderson also witnessed a decorated playing career for the Vikings from 1995-1997. He led the Vikings to both a Northeast Regional and Division III Sweet Sixteen appearance during the 1996 and 1997 seasons, and also served as captain of the squad during his senior campaign.

Manderson graduated from Salem State University with a Bachelor of Science in Fitness and currently holds a of Masters degree in Coaching from Boston University. In addition, he is pursuing his second Masters degree in Athletic Administration from Endicott College.  

Manderson, a native of Chelsea, Massachusetts, will assume all head coaching duties effectively immediately.
