
Men's Basketball Bested by Engineers
WORCESTER, MA: Fitchburg State men's basketball fell to #20 WPI this evening in non-conference action.
THE BASICS:
- Date: 11/26/24
- Score: WPI 79, Fitchburg 60
- Records: WPI (6-0), Fitchburg (0-8)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first half saw both teams go back and forth, with three ties and six lead changes before the break. WPI would gain a foothold towards the end of the half by going on a 16-2 run, putting them up by ten. The second half was more of the same, with each team trading runs. The Engineers would gain their largest lead on a 10-2 run late in the second, pushing their lead to 22 with 3:03 left to play. WPI shot an impressive 60% from the floor in the half, helping them take down the Falcons.
- For the Engineers, Aidan Callahan and Tim Reidy led the way in scoring. Callahan paced the team with 19 points and four assists. Reidy contributed another 15 points and one rebound for the hosting school. Nicholas Margetson rounded out the top scorers for WPI with 10 points, three assists, and three rebounds.
- The Falcons were topped by Matthew Drayton (Boston, MA), who had a game-high 20 points to go with two assists and three rebounds. Nathaniel Semedo (Bridgewater, MA) also put up good points with 15. He also had two rebounds and two steals. Jalen Jackson (San Antonio, TX) concludes the top performers for the Falcons, getting his fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and ten rebounds.
